Functional footwear, or why FitFlops will be my first and only

4 Nov

I surveyed FitFlops online and in real life dozens of times before splurging on a pair. Mine are silver and I call them moon shoes. Aesthetically, they’re not for me… I normally add up my inches with heels and have always avoided platforms — but that’s another story = )

Design aside, my flops took a couple of weeks to break in. I wore them A LOT this past summer… on long, leisurely, baby-in-a-stroller walks, shopping trips, and even around the house. I can’t say I see any difference in the tone of my legs, thighs, glutes, or posture (posture was the selling point  — can’t say enough how important standing up straight is for appearing taller, right?!) Luckily for me, Reebok’s new EasyTone sneakers are not fashionable enough to fuss over as much as FitFlops. If Reebok could have offered a larger range of styles for their $100+ sneaker you’d probably be seeing more of them on people’s feet than on shelves and online.

When it comes to getting better legs and a better butt, I think I’ll stick with stairs.

Six for Sunday (updated)

25 Oct
  • We are finally making this house a home. Tonight we’ll be adding two 6-month-old cats to our family. Update and pics on the way. >^..^< (This is on hold. Boo & thumbs down)
  • The wild thing is … I enjoyed it. Will and I saw Couple’s Retreat (his idea) and it was great. I was sure I’d be seeing Where the Wild Things Are, but I’m guessing there’s a different time and place for that one (aka maybe not a date movie).
  • Victory in vocabulary. Johnathan succinctly described his pepperoni pizza last night as not hot, but spicy. My heart just melted.
  • Supper’s on the menu. This evening we’re having Cheesy Sausage Zucchini Casserole. I’m using some real sausage, via my sister’s persuasion. I plan to mix it with chicken sausage I bought last week. I love yellow squash and I’ll be adding that to this recipe, too. Review to come. (Was a hit! Next time more vegetables)
  • Wearing the pants. When I walked in the door this morning I got a huge hug from Johnathan, good mood courtesy of the fact that he put on his pants AND underwear all by himself.  I googled this. It’s normal, but yet it feels so extraordinary. Woohoo!
  • It’s officially official. Congratulations to my friend Liz for realizing she’s a runner after completing Nike’s Human Race on Saturday. I can’t wait to hear all about it.
